1. What's the name of your band? What's the origin of that name?

We are called Girish and The Chronicles, named after our vocalist. It was originally a solo project that started in 2009 with Girish Pradhan releasing his demo single, “Angel”. He was also a solo performer with the same name in one of the clubs in his hometown, Gangtok, Sikkim. Soon he teamed up with the rest of the band and started performing with the name. Due to the growing popularity of his YouTube channel (Now re-named to Girish and The Chronicles) and the single release in parts of India, the band decided to use the name as the music festivals had started to approach the band with that same name. We felt like “Chronicles” was a befitting name for a band that started in a small town and was gaining on the scene very quickly, winning competitions, headlining some festival to travelling abroad within six months of formation.

2. What are your names, nicknames and corresponding instruments?

We have Girish Pradhan on Vocals who is known by the same name by everyone and is called “G” by the rest of the band members.

Yogesh Pradhan on the bass, also younger brother to Girish, is known as “Yogi”.

Suraz on the lead guitars, which literally means the Sun, so everyone calls him “Suraz Sun/Sun”.

Lastly we have Nagen on the drums, who is known as “Nags”, by everyone.

3. If you could fill a pool with anything but water, what would it be?

No idea.

4. What’s an average day like for the band?

It is mostly rehearsing/practicing our songs, or preparing for an upcoming song. The rest of the days, we are mostly recording ideas and songs for future albums. We gather during evenings quite a lot for dinner and drinks and jam sometimes too, or we just head out to the clubs. Of course, the lock-down has changed all that.

5. Where/When was your last show, when/where is your next show?

Our last show was at a College out here in the city of Bengaluru, as a part of their annual music festival. They were a beautiful crowd. As for the next show, only time will tell now.

6. What are some of the best pranks you as bandmates have pulled on each other?

A couple of years back, I (Girish) learned a tune that a bird was singing, with long intervals in between. I called my guitarist during one of the intervals and told him that I had taught the bird how to sing a tune. Then I calculated the interval and sung the notes and made it look like it was the bird following me. Did it a couple of times, enough to make him wonder in awe and say stuff like,

“ Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me”, with eyes wide open and his jaw dropped!

7. How has your music evolved since you first began playing together?

We really loved jamming to the classics when we started. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Deep Purple, etc. However, that was not the case when we would sit down to make our own songs. This side of us, always deviated towards what we used to do in school, which was NWOBHM and the LA Glam Metal sound. So the songs we have on our first album have both, where-as the new album releasing on 27th April 2020 is closer to the latter I believe.

8. What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite?

The favorite is the satisfaction of doing exactly what we want and love, against all the odds.

Least favorite would be the uncertainty involved. Although, that totally inspires us to work harder and write more music.

9. If you were a super-hero, what would your power be?

The power to scream and convert everyone into the religion of Rock ‘n Roll!

10. What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?

Stick to what you love.

11. Who are some of your favorite musicians?

We really love the bands that we grew up listening to and some bands today, that follow the style. Some of them being, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, RATT, Dokken, Twisted Sisters, Van Halen, Megadeth, Pantera. We backed Chris Adler last year during his tour in India and obviously are a huge fan of the man! We collaborated with Rowan Robertson in our upcoming album too. A gem of a guy and a wonderful guitarist. Steel Panther’s always a lot of fun to play out loud! H.E.A.T and Enforcer as some of the newer bands we dig sometimes. Love listening to Myrone!

12. What is the craziest thing you have ever received from a fan?

The craziest things you could receive from a fan.

13. What song means the most to you and why?

From our previous album, Angel, Loaded and Ride To Hell mean a lot us. All of them talk about phases we have gone through and the hurdles we have had to cross as musicians. From the new album, our latest release, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Here To Stay, Rock The Highway, Identity Crisis are some of our favorites. All different subjects, talking about How Rock and Heavy Metal will continue to exist as long as there are bands doing it wholeheartedly. The Spirit of Rock n Roll and the chaotic circumstances human beings always land themselves in, with war, refugee crises etc; Respectively.
